What is Homeschooling?

"A home schooled student predominantly receives instruction in a general, elementary or secondary education program that is provided by the parent—or a person standing in parental authority—in or through the child’s home [Texas Education Code 29.916 (a)].

The parent or person standing in parental authority might contract with outside sources in order that the student receives additional instruction. For example, a private tutor, co-op class or a college class. However, this source or these sources do not circumvent the parent’s role in determining the overall success or failure of the student."

What is KACH?

KACH is primarily a social network for Christian homeschooling families. We are a parent-led, volunteer run organization. We do not offer any educational classes or a co-op, and we are not a drop off group. We encourage new families to jump in, make friends, and lift each other up.

We have weekly park days for all ages, and at least one field trip a month geared for all ages. In addition, there are small groups based on age that have regular field trips and events. {{more info on small groups}}

Park days are great social times for parents and kids, and a great place for parents to get support and ask questions while the kids play. We also have online forums where you can post meet ups or ask questions.

As far as curriculum, each family does their own curriculum based on what they feel is best for their family. We don't recommend any particular publisher or author, but we know some families have favorites. The online forums and park days are great ways to ask all those questions and more.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. We're happy to help.

Who can be members of KACH?

Membership with the Katy Association of Christian Homeschoolers (KACH) is for any family who is actively engaged in homeschooling at least one school-aged child in their household.

Multiple households cannot have membership for the same child(ren). Homeschool vendors cannot be members of KACH, unless the individual representing a vendor is a homeschooling parent/guardian of a family as described above. "Any member professing a faith contradicting the KACH Statement of Faith may be removed from the organization." - KACH ByLaws
